|Forgot I had this
Why do I even have one of these things?
I guess it's worth it for the once a month that I seem to remember to kill some time on it. Then I get some great amusement from stories and links, like this adorable video from Julia
. The cuteness is almost overwhelming.
In other news (since I'm actually on here anyway) things are kind of weird. Trying to graduate is also going to make this quarter suck. I need a break already. How are all of you doing? Assuming anyone else also still remembers that they have these things. Current Mood: should be busy

|Sing like you think no one's listening
Anyone good with technical/mechanical problems? My camera is having issues and I don't know what to do. If my camera is out of commission for too much longer I may lose it and do something rash.
Anyone free on the 19th and want to see Straylight Run? Or to phrase that differently, anyone free that day and want to make me happy by joining me for some really good music? If I miss them again this time around I'll be bitter.
This quarter is kicking my ass. So much for coasting through 3 of my upper division heavy English major requirements. And the fact that they canceled 3 more classes next quarter isn't making it any easier to graduate.
Thank God we get Friday off. Current Mood: tired

What is it about the G St Pub that makes people want to kick some ass? Current Mood: why isn't "hungover" a mood?

|criticism is such a bitch
Why the hell can't I understand any of the reading? Oh that's right, it was written for Grad students. What, they couldn't find anything more ridiculous to force upon us poor Undergrads who are just struggling through the damn class because it's one hell of a requirement? I'm also kind of screwed, and it's only partially my fault. Alright, more like 80% but it sure would help if the material wasn't so contradictory and nearly impossible. I hate this so much. Let the week be over already. Current Mood: ahhh!

|Do I like Pop Tarts?
I don't think I've watched a new episode of Gilmore Girls
in like 2 years. So I finally happen to be home, relatively un-busy tonight when it was on (alright, I was looking for an excuse to not go running for once) and pretty much every plot line I can remember has gone crazy. What the crap?( So let me get this straight...Collapse ) Current Mood: uh...

|start of Senior year
It's about that time when I'm starting to do things for the last time. Cal Poly this past weekend may have been my last away game trip, depending on whether or not I can figure out the test and still go to South Dakota. Homecoming is coming up in just a couple weeks, which will be my last one before it's an actual Homecoming
as an Alum. The past few years have gone by so quickly.
Classes, with the exception of bowling with Katie, are all for the major which means a lot of reading. Taking the Criticism class that every English major has warned me about and the text is a bitch. Professors are pretty cool this quarter, which is the only reason I think it might be manageable.
There really wasn't much of a point to this entry, just procrastinating. But isn't that what Livejournal is for?
ps. Reel Big Fish in November, anyone? Current Mood: a bit sleepy

|Oh right, Livejournal...
I have a bit of time to catch up on things since the craziness of September is over for the most part. I kind of forgot that Livejournal existed, but I guess it's still a good way to keep up to date with the few people that I haven't seen practically every day for the past month.
Aside from Cal Poly and SD at the end of the season, the away games are over and school hasn't even started yet. There's the upside to this year's football schedule. Retreat went really well. I was stressed as hell and missed a lot of the fun stuff while having a million technical problems with the slideshow, but Retreat itself went smoothly. The costumes turned out amazing! If you weren't there you should really check out the pictures.
Classes start on Thursday which is a bitch, but summer couldn't last forever. Might as well get that last year of college started. And my birthday is on Friday so that's some fun to look forward to. Oh man, September flew by. Current Mood: relatively relaxed (finally)

|halfway through September...
Done with trips for now. By the time I got back it was almost weird to even be here. Finally saw the Grand Canyon, now it's ridiculous that Yosemite is still on the list of places yet to visit. I wish luck to all the Montana and Ohio people. It's nice to have a chance to catch my breath because the month is not over yet...
Still to do for Retreat (i.e. Monday): Finish the Slideshow, finish my costume, decorations and picture backdrop, picture board, and upload all other pictures if there's time since it's certainly not my highest priority. I'm sure there's more but those are the most important things I can think of at the moment.
This has been a nice procrastination break; back to work. Current Mood: busy

|almost September... goodbye free time
So my my summer is pretty much over. Not really complaining, I just wish that I had done more. Aside from Officer Retreat and a few trips to the bay area I barely even left the Davis/Sac area. Classes don't start until the end of September but this is pretty much how my month looks: Tonight until Sunday night we're in Colorado, then 2 days to rest and repack, off to Texas for a day less than a week which brings us to the 11th, a week left until Retreat to finish everything (costume, decorations, slide show...) and I just hope that's enough time, a couple days until Ohio, minus me I'm off to the bay area again for a few appointments and errands, then classes start, my birthday, and the month is over. It's going to fly by. Current Mood: busy month starting now!

So I finally got my refund check from North Dakota about 6 months after the trip. I blame whatever person in SPAC decided to send it to a place that I no longer work even though I specifically put a different address on it. I deposit it even though it's on the cusp of too late (thanks again SPAC check person) and thankfully I don't encounter any problems. Then a week later the money (granted not much but still) is taken back
out of my account without my knowledge. Then get this, they charge me an extra $6 on top
of what they took back from my account as a "returned deposited item fee"... What the hell? Current Mood: a bit angry

|Summer update... RENT, Bay Area, Birthday plans...
It's come to my attention that I don't update this thing regularly with real posts. I'm not going to lie and say that that's going to change, but when I get bored you'll get an update here and there. If people are still reading this that is. Otherwise at least it's a great way to kill time for my benefit.
Saw RENT in SF Thursday night. That's the 3rd time I've seen it live and even after the movie release it's still such a fun crowd pleaser and I love it. Jenna if you're reading this, I couldn't help but think of Broadway during the moo part...
So the original plan was to see Lifehouse with Toshi and Satomi - who I haven't seen in ages and miss much - the 2nd weekend of August, then just stay in the Bay Area for a while to catch up. Then I found out that that day might be the Waterworld gig, pretty much my favorite one. If that turns out to be true I might have to choose. ugh. Either way I will be back in the Bay Area for a bit sometime in August so I hope that some of you will be around because there are some people who I am long due a visit with. You know who you are.
Just heard from Jeff and checked the site- the Brodys show is on for my birthday. Done!
Sac zoo ice cream social gig was today. Animals, music, and all the free ice cream you can eat, what a wonderful idea. There was a great acapella group that sang toward the end. I love acappella music; If anyone knows of any groups that I should check out I'm always up to discover more great acapella. Big fan of the original version of this song and Rockapella has some good stuff, it's a shame that I don't like this one more.
Oh and in other news, no more chickens. The last chick is gone. Interesting story for anyone who cares to hear it. I guess that we just weren't meant to own fowl. Current Mood: still full from the ice cream

|oh the heat
This week has been within the 100's and fans are the best things ever. At least it should cool off soon, right?
The other night I came back from many jello only to find myself wide awake around 4 or 5 in the morning. I walked across the street to the park (I really should make more use of its being there) where it was nice and cool, and I decided to lie down in the grass with nothing but stars above me. I just stayed there listening to ipod music and watching the sky until the stars disappeared and it started to get light outside. It was so nice and relaxing. I even made up my mind about things that I've debating for ages. I should do that more often this summer.
Saturday I went with Katie to one of the "Overnight Safaris" at the Sac Zoo since she had to be there for work anyway. I hadn't been to a zoo in ages, and spending the night there was clearly a first. It was great. Also lots of fun to have so many amazing animals as prospective photography targets.
RENT on Thursday then the super fun Zoo Ice Cream Social gig on Saturday, July's almost over... Current Mood: enjoying the fan

|summer update post
So the summer hasn't been quite as productive as I had hoped so far. Not working at the moment; actually I need to call Eric about that, theoretically I should start working any day now. Haley and I are taking Spanish classes 4 days a week and a lot of it is coming back to me from when I took it in high school. Not that I'm able to carry out a long complicated conversation yet but at least we're acing the tests and picking up new things. So far our book has introduced to conversations of beer, parties, and being drunk. No lie. Clearly a book intended for college spanish students.
Otherwise not too much else. This week has actually been the most busy I've been all summer and that's not even saying all that much. Monday was Standford MNR which is both fun and silly at the same time. At least they actually had flutes this year. Tuesday was the 4th of July parade and battle, where I got a horrible sunburn on my shoulders and wasn't able to sleep well for the next 3 days. Way to go me. When Haley and I got back we put Star Wars
on and then promptly passed out on the couch. Oh man we were tired. I didn't even do anything to celebrate Independence Day. Like really nothing, even less than last year. Next year I'm celebrating dammit, I don't care how tired I am, there will be fireworks and beer mark my words.
Thursday night Kate, Bobby, the twins, Alex, and I went to see the midnight showing of Pirates 2
. It was great although there were a lot of things that kind of put me off about the characters. Although I'm not so irked by it knowing that a lot will probably be explained in the third movie since the second one was a damn to be continued
Last night we went to see Jeff's band play a show. The crowd was kind of ridiculously MIA although it was still a great time since I love the band and seeing them live won't happen often until September. Then when we got back Haley and I watched The Wizard of OZ
and realized that we both know that movie way too well. So we added toasts To OZ and waterfalls whenever they sing "We're off to see the Wizard" oh childhood memories. Current Mood: lethargic
|Monday, July 3rd, 2006|
I hadn't been shopping in forever until Saturday; God it was so much fun. And who knew that shopping with a guy could also be such a great time? No seriously Olin, most guys seem to want to do anything in the world in order to not
shop which sucks all the fun out of it, and yet you brought just as much excitement as I did. I hope that you had a blast too buddy!
So I might have a Halloween costume. It's going to take a few extra accessories to complete but I think that that I can almost definitely get it all together by late October. I'll let it be a surprise. Current Mood: accomplished

|updated zoo count... goodbye chick
The dogs got to Chick and killed her. Katie didn't want me to go outside to see what had happened but it was pretty obvious.
Oh, did I fail to mention that we got chicks? Yeah, it'll be a while until we get eggs from them but man are they adorable. Joey, Chandler, and Chick; although poor Chick is sadly gone. I guess that's another trip to Dixon soon for Chick Jr.
So anyone keeping track: 3 chickens (well, 2 chicks and soon to be another 3rd), 2 dogs, a cat (perhaps 2 soon), 3 gerbils, 5 rats, 2 bunnies (when Alex doesn't kidnap Bun-Bun), a dwarf hamster, 3 frogs, 2 guinea pigs, a baby hummingbird... am I missing anything? Current Mood: oh damn dogs
